Bank robber ditched getaway driver when she fell out of car, FBI says

A man charged with robbing a Mahwah bank on Sunday allegedly left his female accomplice behind when she fell out of the getaway car, according to court documents.

Joel Robbins, 47, of Oradell, and Wanda Soel, 52, of Hasbrouck Heights, are each charged with one count of bank robbery for their alleged roles in the holdup of a TD Bank, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick announced.

According to FBI agent John Havens, Robbins entered the bank at 373 Route 17 North in Mahwah about 1 p.m. and pulled a bandana over his face.

“When Soel got out of the Corolla, she tripped and fell, and Robbins drove away without her,” Havens said in the statement.
